Located on level one of the historical Queen Victoria Building in Sydney sits ABC’s flagships store. The challenge with this site was determining how to adapt the new concept elements to suit this unique heritage space. We looked at ways of restraining the overall palette by limiting elements such as the colourful stripped wallpaper to low height walls and introducing new features to complement the building. Custom made wallpaper was designed using vintage images from the ABC archival folder as well as a feature runway of tessellated tiles which take reference from the original mall tile patterning. Joinery colours were reconsidered and additional breakout spaces implemented to divide the 300sqm floor plan
